• Large Landowners - Vellalar

• Ordinary Ploughmen - Uzhavar

• Landless labourers including slaves - Kadaisiyar and Adimai

• Village headman - Grama Bhojaka

• Independent farmers (Small Landowners) - Grihapatis

• Muvendar - Three Chiefs

• Maha-danda-nayaka - Chief Judicial Officer

• Kumar-amatya - Important Minister

• Sandhi-vigrahika - Minister of War and Peace

• Nagarashreshthi - Chief Banker or Merchant of the City

• Sarthavaha - Leader of the Merchant Caravans

• Prathama-kulika  - The Chief Craftsman

• Sabha - Assembly of Brahmin landowners

• Kayasthas - Scribes

• Ur - Village Assembly ( Landowners were not Brahmins)

• Nagaram - Organisation of Merchants

• Wazir - Important Minister
